ICAR - INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SPICES RESEARCH
The Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR), under ICAR, is a premier institute focused on developing high-yielding, disease-resistant, and climate-resilient spice varieties. IISR conducts research in breeding, biotechnology, plant protection, agronomy, and post-harvest management for key spices like black pepper, cardamom, ginger, turmeric, and clove, while promoting sustainable cultivation practices and supporting farmers and industry stakeholders. The Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics Facility at IISR provides computational support for genomics, transcriptomics, and other ‘omics’ research. It assists students and faculty with NGS data analysis, algorithm development, and bioinformatics training, enabling studies on gene expression, regulation, and plant–microbe interactions.
